There have been several questions looming in this dark economy, with many companies in the fashion prospective taking major losses, the world is riding on fashion week.  We all wait anxiously via internet, media risers, and seats waiting for the enchanting beginning to what is hot and what is not for fall 2010 , but somewhere in the back of our minds we are also factoring will it be breathtaking  enough to have consumers pay full price for it.

Many merchants are praying that it is enough to insight a strong cash flow of purchases into their stores and shops.  This means Buyers will have to be extremely selective in what pieces they buy for the shops because until the economy does a complete turnaround, consumers are not going to be interested for a short term fix.  The items can be listed as discounted prices, but even at discount the cost can be rather high.  This means that these lines must contain a lot more staple pieces, but the answer to have the designers complied will not be completely given until fashion week is over.

I feel like fan at game with less than 30 seconds on the clock, will we be able to return to fashion fabulous with cost no longer being the option. I guess we will have to wait and see, but I do join the High Hopes Theory for fashion week.

Nelson Mandela
On February 11th 20 years ago Nelson Mandela was released from prison after 27 years. This is a historical day not just in the South African community but in the community period. This marked a beginning of change that has spanned over the years.

It was the grand finale of sorts and a grand one indeed, the previous events that week leading up to his release were Feb. 2, then-President F.W. de Klerk announced the unbanning of the ANC and other organizations. On Feb. 10, de Klerk announced at a press conference that Mandela would be released the next day.

It is a part of history that should be remembered as well as respected by everyone.

Alexander Mc Queen
Today seems to be a normal day in the office until I got word that we have lost Alexander McQueen. I stared blankly into space thinking of all the wonderful sexy trends he has set and how this is a devastating lost to the industry. Then it hit me on the first day of fashion NYC week and days before London Fashion Week, which made it even worse.  Reports are sketchy as what actually transpired, but we do know he lost his mom at the beginning of the month.

I am truly broken hearted that such a talent has been lost; this impacts the fashion industry as well as the entertainment industry, his gowns have been worn by many A-list celebs such as Carmon Diaz and Sandra Bullock. It will be a sad day on Fashion Ave today, and for many days to come.  He was a brilliant designer.  He was definitely the cutting edge of fashion, no doubt about it. When his name was said it only meant that you were getting something of great quality and style.  He was truly an artist when it came down to designs as well as the shows. His shows were often referred to as performances not previews due to the theatrical nature that they took on. It was truly a sight to behold from 1st witness accounts. He will be Missed.

Knowledge
PHILADELPHIA, PA, Sunday, February 07, 2010

After much awaited anticipation on the underground circuit via internet promotion solely; Knowledge’s album is to surface February 15th, 2010. “THRU PLAYIN’ ROUND HERE” the first solo effort from artist knowledge and what has been presented is surely to generate a buzz. To the average “hip-hop” head this would definitely go over their head, but to those who crave variety and change from the artist, this is the album to watch out for. He takes you on multiple journeys from love to life with a positive image and reference.

Knowledge has already appeared on “Music, Love, Lies, & Lex” a show streamed to thousands of listeners via Blog Talk Radio as well as being debuted on Rasha Entertainment by approval of its owner Rahiem Shabazz.

The body of work on the album is nothing short of creativity at work, as well a change of pace from the harsh and often violent mentality that currently grips the music industry.  The songs are reminiscent of earlier works by "Tribe Called Quest" as well as "The Roots"; Although similar they are very much different.

Well after 11 months of partnership client Danyelle Little has gone free agent. It was not a shock to the staff here, seeing as though Ms. Little was handling business on her own for a while before involving the company. It was a long hard thought process between both parties, and a hard choice to make, but we felt she was ready and well versed enough to soar as the dove that she is on her own.  She will be missed around the camp, but we know that she has bloomed.  We wish her well in her future endeavors and will continue to support and represent her in anything she needs, because family is family no matter what.

You can check Ms. Little on her stellar website Cubical Chick or on Cubical Chick TV!

All PR Inquires are now to be forwarded to Ms. Little directly, all contact information can be located on the cubical chick.

Fashionistas, Glamazons, Beautiful ones, it’s that time again. Mercedes-Benz 2010 fashion week. We all die to know what will be the ins and outs of the fall season. The fashions do’s don’ts, absolutely won’ts and totally must haves that we all crave to know to put our best foot forward in the upcoming seasons. There had been some previous rumors of the event being moved to Lincoln center but that didn’t happen.  It will be hosted as always at Bryant Park in the tents, and various other locations scattered around New York City.

The event is scheduled for February 11-18th; it is also being done July 15th- 19th in Miami Florida.

Miami is definitely the place to be first for the super bowl today and then later on for fashion week.  So get your things together, turn on your TVs, or grab your tickets and invites if you have them, and get ready for the new wave. New York will simply be a beautiful buzz, what does that mean for traffic, unfortunately nothing spectacular but we always work it out. It is not an issue we don’t stop up top.

There will be plenty of night life activities to create an even greater experience for those who have just gotten involved as well as staple events we are all accustomed too.

What is it ?

Social Media Week conferences take place simultaneously in multiple cities around the world. The aim of each event is to advance the use and understanding of social media in the corporate, public and non-profit sectors. The second annual conference will take place between February 1st – 5th, 2010 simultaneously in New York City, Berlin, London, San Francisco, Toronto and São Paulo. The five day conference will explore the profound impact that social media has on culture, business communications and society at large.

The week-long, international Social Media Week conference is designed as a series of localized events, which city partners are responsible for organizing. Over the course of the week and in each city, programs will span a variety of formats, ranging from talks, presentations and panel discussions, to interactive workshops, seminars, networking events and drinks receptions.

Each event, including the live stream and backchannel conversations will be hosted on the Social Media Week website, allowing for participants from around the world and across multiple cities to take part in the conference.

“Social media has permeated society and is creating a global community that is unprecedented in scope. Social Media Week embraces this phenomenon and is pioneering the way as a global platform for conversation, connectivity and learning. The conference aims to advance the uses of social media in the corporate, public and non-profit sectors, and engage communities on a local and global level.”
Toby Daniels, founder and organizer of Social Media Week

Social Media Week organizers and local partners will plan some of the events, however just as in 2009, the local business community has been invited to add their own events to the program to broaden the scope and diversity of the conference.

The initial program of events will be published soon, in the meantime, if you would like to get involved, we would love to hear from you.

Social Media Week is co-produced by Colaboratorie Mutopo
